Cooking Tip: Cooking a Great Steak

I personally prefer to cook steak outside on the grill, but on the occasion that I do choose to cook them inside, I follow this tip that I read somewhere years ago.

  • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a heavy, ovenproof skillet until the oil is barely smoking.
  • Salt and pepper steak and pan-sear both sides (flipping only once with tongs).
  • Place in oven until steak is done to preferred doneness.

Please note that over the years I have gathered recipes from everywhere imaginable. Most recipes posted on this site were given to me or I found somewhere along the line. I will note a source if known, but I rarely keep original sources. Magazines or loose recipes are thrown away, books are passed on to others to enjoy, and in the early days, I never thought to note an online source.
